Lam Dong and Can Tho strengthen cooperation in investment, trade and tourism promotion

Immediately after Lien Khuong International Airport officially resumed operations on August 19 following a period of temporary closure for repairs and upgrades, the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province rolled out a series of activities to enhance regional connectivity, promote investment, trade and tourism, and market the local image. Among these efforts, the reopening of the Da Lat - Can Tho air route is expected to unlock further opportunities for connectivity, boost trade, and foster tourism growth between the two localities.

On the day the flight operations resumed, the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province organized a welcome ceremony and presented gifts to passengers on the first flight. Concurrently, a working delegation led by Nguyen Hong Hai, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, travelled to Can Tho on the Da Lat-Can Tho flight for a working session with the People's Committee of Can Tho City. The delegation included representatives from relevant departments and agencies of Lam Dong Province.

During the working session, Lam Dong and Can Tho discussed and agreed on various cooperative contents aimed at enhancing connectivity and leveraging the potential and strengths of each locality. The two sides focused on boosting investment, trade, and tourism promotion, expanding markets, and connecting businesses, products, and tourist destinations. These efforts are expected to generate additional momentum for socio-economic development, aiming for double-digit growth in the coming period.

To ensure that the cooperation agreement is promptly translated into concrete and effective action, both localities agreed to assign their respective Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Centers as the main focal points. These centers will lead and coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Department of Industry and Trade, and other relevant agencies to draft and implement specific cooperative programs and tasks.

The implementation process must ensure practicality, efficiency, and a clear focus, with explicitly defined contents, timelines, executing units, and tangible outputs. Priority will be given to initiatives that can be deployed immediately to deliver real-world benefits for the business community, trade activities, and tourism.
In particular, both localities mandated that specific programs, activities, or joint products must be launched within the fourth quarter of 2026. This will serve as a foundation to further expand and enhance the efficiency of cooperation between Lam Dong and Can Tho moving forward.

The resumption of the Da Lat - Can Tho air route is expected to create favorable conditions for Lam Dong and Can Tho to strengthen linkages and expand the scope of cooperation across investment, trade, and tourism. In turn, this will contribute to creating new momentum for socio-economic development, targeting double-digit growth in the near future.
