Lam Dong Holds Training on Diplomatic Protocol and External Relations Ceremonies

On August 26, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a training course on diplomatic protocol, external relations ceremonies, and the reception of foreign guests. The program was held online at 124 locations across the province.

Building a Professional Approach to Diplomatic Protocol

The training aimed to provide and update knowledge while improving professional skills for officials and civil servants working in external relations and protocol, as well as personnel involved in these areas at agencies, organizations, and localities across the province.

At the program, Ministry of Foreign Affairs speakers provided an overview of diplomatic protocol and external relations ceremonies at the local level, along with general knowledge of the nature and role of protocol work and the basic principles governing diplomatic protocol.

According to the training content, diplomatic protocol refers to a set of rules, formalities, and international practices applied in relations between countries to organize official foreign affairs activities. This work is not merely ceremonial; every detail in the organization and reception of foreign guests conveys a diplomatic message.

4 key principles were emphasized: equality; respect for national sovereignty; compliance with international law and the laws of the host country; and reciprocity.

Practical Skills for Receiving International Delegations

In addition to foundational knowledge, the course focused on practical skills for organizing foreign affairs activities and receiving international delegations. The training is expected to help officials follow proper procedures and protocols while minimizing potential mistakes in carrying out their duties.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Tuyen emphasized the practical significance of the training as Lam Dong continues to expand cooperation and exchanges with international localities, organizations, and partners.

The program is expected to contribute to building a more professional team of external relations officials, improving the quality of external events and activities, and enhancing Lam Dong’s image among international friends and partners.
