Lam Dong Leaders Receive Netherlands Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City
Lam Dong and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City exchanged views on development potential and cooperation opportunities, opening prospects for deeper collaboration in the coming period.
On August 26, Standing Committee Member of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai received a delegation from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City.
The delegation was led by Raissa Marteaux, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, together with representatives of Dutch businesses and organizations.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai welcomed the delegation and exchanged views with its members.
Lam Dong highlights investment and development potential
Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai said that following the merger, Lam Dong has the largest area among Vietnam's provinces and cities, with a population of more than 3.9 million. The province has significant potential for industrial development, high-tech agriculture and tourism.
In industry, Lam Dong has considerable potential for mineral extraction, deep processing and energy development. The province has an estimated 5.4 billion tonnes of run-of-mine bauxite ore. In July 2026, the first aluminum ingots in Viet Nam were produced in Nhan Co Commune, Lam Dong.
In high-tech agriculture, Lam Dong has the largest agricultural production area in the country, covering approximately 1.054 million hectares. The province has been connecting with businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and other markets, aiming to bring Lam Dong's agricultural products to southern markets through official distribution channels.
Tourism is also one of Lam Dong's key economic pillars, with diverse landscapes stretching from forests to the sea. The province will have two airports, Phan Thiet and Lien Khuong, while key transport routes are being upgraded and improved to facilitate tourism development. Lam Dong is also calling for investment in deep-water port infrastructure in the eastern area to promote economic growth.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai affirmed that the Netherlands is an important partner and the EU's leading investor in Viet Nam.
Lam Dong currently has 10 projects invested by Dutch businesses, with total registered capital exceeding US$170 million. In the first seven months of 2026, Lam Dong's exports to the Netherlands reached approximately US$25 million.
To realize its potential and advantages, Lam Dong hopes that the two sides will work together and pursue long-term cooperation through specific projects. Lam Dong expects the Netherlands to explore investment opportunities in sustainable agriculture and the seed industry, logistics and commercial infrastructure, aviation, trade, tourism and human resources.

The Netherlands seeks expanded cooperation with Lam Dong
Raissa Marteaux, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated the meeting and the warm welcome extended by Lam Dong. She expressed her hope that the discussions would open new opportunities for cooperation between the two sides.
She emphasized that the Netherlands has long been an important EU investor and trading partner of Viet Nam, with Lam Dong continuing to be a priority area for cooperation.
We would like to invest and cooperate with Lam Dong in areas such as aviation, tourism, energy, agriculture and the environment. The Netherlands hopes to further strengthen cooperation with Lam Dong in the coming period.

Regarding aviation infrastructure, Raissa Marteaux and members of the delegation expressed interest in Lam Dong's development plans for its aviation system. Based on these orientations, the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City will connect Dutch experts, reputable investors and businesses with the province.
In agriculture, the Netherlands is interested in cooperating with Lam Dong to develop organic farming models and integrated agriculture-forestry models.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai said that the areas proposed by the Netherlands are closely aligned with Lam Dong's planning orientations. In addition to existing investment locations, Lam Dong hopes Dutch investors will expand into other areas of the province with significant potential.
The province also encouraged the Netherlands to organize business delegations to work directly with Lam Dong in specific sectors and fields, creating concrete cooperation projects.
