Lam Dong invests VND2.85 trillion in Gia Nghia - Bao Lam road project
Lam Dong Province will invest VND2.85 trillion to build the 8.87-km Gia Nghia - Bao Lam strategic road, including a major bridge across the Dong Nai River. The project is scheduled for 2026-2029.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has approved the investment project for the Gia Nghia - Bao Lam strategic road.
The project is assigned to Project Management Board No. 3 as the investor. It is classified as a Group B project and funded by the central and provincial budgets.
The road will be approximately 8.87 km long, running through Dong Gia Nghia Ward and Bao Lam 5 Commune in Lam Dong Province.
The starting point is at Km0+000, where the route intersects Dao Nghia - Quang Khe Road in Dong Gia Nghia Ward. The endpoint is at Km8+872, connecting with the road leading to Dong Nai 4 Hydropower Plant and the planned National Highway 55 in Bao Lam 5 Commune.
The project will be built to Grade III road standards for flat terrain, with a design speed of 80 km/h. The roadbed will be 12 meters wide on standard sections and 21.5 meters in difficult terrain, with a four-lane configuration.
A major bridge across the Dong Nai River
The bridge across the Dong Nai River is one of the project's key components.
The bridge will be approximately 1.17 km long, including a 350-meter main cable-stayed span. It will feature towers and cable-stayed structures arranged along a single cable plane.
The bridge deck will be 25.3 meters wide at the tower locations. It will include four main traffic lanes and two lanes for motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles.
With its scale and prominent structure, the bridge is expected to become an architectural landmark along the route and in the surrounding area.
Currently, the main connection between Gia Nghia and Bao Lam is National Highway 28. However, the route is frequently affected by landslides, disrupting travel and the transportation of goods.
Under the Lam Dong Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, the Gia Nghia - Bao Lam strategic road will establish a new connection from the eastern gateway of Gia Nghia. The route will cross the Dong Nai River and connect with National Highway 55 through Bao Lam and Bon Cay Xoai.
The new route is expected to shorten the distance between Gia Nghia and Bao Lam from about 41 km to approximately 15 km.
Its alignment and vertical profile are considered favorable for transportation, particularly for the movement of goods and export-related logistics.
New transport corridor to drive regional growth
According to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the project aims to establish a north-south transport corridor connecting the western Central Highlands with the southeastern Central Highlands. It will also strengthen links with the South Central Coast and Southeast regions.
The road is expected to connect with major east-west transport corridors and improve the efficiency of existing and planned infrastructure projects.
It will strengthen connections between economic centers, seaports and key transport networks while meeting growing freight transportation demand.
The project is also expected to create additional development space and new growth momentum for the Central Highlands and South Central Coast.
It will contribute to improving transport infrastructure, enhancing regional competitiveness and promoting socio-economic development across Lam Dong and neighboring areas.
