Da Lat Welcomes National Day Visitors as Traffic Stays Smooth
During this year’s National Day holiday, Da Lat welcomed visitors in a lively yet relatively moderate atmosphere. At tourist attractions, central areas and key traffic intersections, authorities were deployed to maintain security, regulate traffic, conduct patrols and handle violations. These measures helped keep traffic flowing smoothly, creating favorable conditions for residents and visitors to enjoy their holiday and stay.
Visitor numbers rise without overwhelming the destination
On August 30, observations along several major roads and at key tourist sites in Da Lat showed that traffic and visitor numbers had increased compared with normal days, but remained generally moderate.
At Da Lat market, Lam Vien Square, Da Lat railway station and roads in the city center, the tourism atmosphere was lively, yet there were no signs of prolonged overcrowding.
The reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport is expected to add momentum to tourism in Da Lat and Lam Dong Province during this year’s holiday.
According to accommodation providers, room bookings at some periods increased by around 40%. Notably, demand was not limited to the holiday period but showed signs of extending into September.

This is considered a positive signal for Lam Dong’s tourism sector after Lien Khuong International Airport temporarily suspended operations for runway repairs.
The restoration of flight routes gives visitors more travel options to Da Lat while expanding connectivity to the destination during the year-end tourism season.

According to Ton Thien San, Director of the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the tourism sector has implemented a series of plans, directives and guidelines to help localities and tourism businesses prepare fully for the September 2 National Day holiday.
Tourism authorities have required businesses to strengthen measures to ensure security and public order, traffic safety, fire prevention and firefighting, search and rescue, environmental sanitation and food safety. They have also been instructed to strictly comply with price-list requirements, sell at listed prices and prevent unreasonable price increases, overcharging, solicitation and fraud in tourism services.
Proactive traffic management to maintain smooth travel
At key intersections along major roads in Da Lat, including Hung Vuong, Tran Hung Dao and Bui Thi Xuan streets and the area around Lam Vien Square, traffic police and public-order forces have been deployed to regulate traffic and proactively manage vehicle flows.
Alongside personnel stationed at major intersections, the Traffic Police Division of the Lam Dong Provincial Police has deployed mobile patrol teams on several roads.
Their primary task is to promptly detect and handle violations, particularly improper stopping and parking, which can easily contribute to congestion on central streets during peak periods.
The combination of direct traffic control at intersections and mobile patrols enables authorities to respond promptly to emerging situations and limit localized congestion.
At areas attracting large numbers of visitors, including Da Lat Market and Da Lat Railway Station, local authorities and relevant agencies have also deployed personnel. Visitor numbers have remained moderate, while sightseeing, shopping and entertainment activities have generally proceeded in an orderly manner.
Traffic safety measures have also been implemented beyond Da Lat, particularly along gateway routes and in areas where vehicle volumes are expected to increase during the holiday.
On Provincial Road 721, in the area where Cat Tien Commune borders Bu Dang Commune, traffic police from Traffic Police Team No. 8 have been deployed at full strength to maintain traffic order and safety and remain ready to respond to emerging situations.
In the Bao Loc Pass area, working teams from the Traffic Police Division of the Lam Dong Provincial Police have also been assigned to conduct patrols and inspections, helping ensure the safety of vehicles and visitors on the key route connecting localities.

Alongside traffic safety, authorities and local administrations are placing particular emphasis on safety at tourism sites. Tourist attractions have been required to strengthen security and public order, prevent fires and explosions, install adequate rules, directional signs and danger warnings, and deploy rescue personnel and equipment in potentially hazardous areas.
At sites offering water-based activities, including swimming pools, rivers, streams, lakes and waterfalls, priority is being given to maintaining permanent rescue teams and clearly marking safe areas with flags and buoys to ensure timely responses to unexpected incidents.
Accommodation establishments, restaurants and tourist attractions have also been asked to improve service quality, ensure environmental sanitation and food safety, and strictly display prices. Many businesses have actively responded to the province’s tourism stimulus program through service discounts, vouchers, room upgrades, group offers and complimentary souvenirs.
With early preparations by the tourism sector, local authorities and law-enforcement forces, the September 2 National Day holiday in Lam Dong, particularly in Da Lat, is taking place in a cheerful and safe atmosphere.
