On October 19, Nguyen Hong Hai, Member of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a meeting with relevant departments, agencies, local authorities and organizations to discuss the planning proposal for Valley of Light in Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward.

Valley of Light Envisioned as a New Urban Landmark
Under the proposed plan, Valley of Light is envisioned as a major landscape and architectural landmark and a public space, while also contributing to the development of the nighttime economy in the Da Lat area.
The park is expected to combine water features, green spaces, architectural landmarks and local transport infrastructure. Underground levels are being considered for integrated services, a night market and underground parking. This approach aims to improve land-use efficiency and address parking demand in the central area.
The park will be surrounded by roads and connected to water bodies, channels and green spaces. The design proposal focuses on studying ground elevations, water levels, drainage capacity and connections to the existing transport network to ensure harmony between the landscape and technical infrastructure.

As part of the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai and representatives of relevant departments, agencies and local authorities conducted a site inspection of the proposed location for Valley of Light.
During the inspection, the delegation assessed existing site conditions, the transport network, drainage systems and opportunities to connect the landscape with surrounding areas. These findings will provide a basis for further studies, determining planning indicators and refining the spatial design to suit the characteristics of central Da Lat.

Improving Traffic Flow and Public Accessibility in Da Lat
After hearing the report and inspecting the site, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai asked the relevant units to continue refining the planning proposal to ensure an integrated approach to landscape design, architecture and transport infrastructure.
In particular, traffic organization and connections to surrounding roads must be carefully calculated to meet travel demand and minimize the risk of congestion as commercial and service facilities and neighboring residential areas are developed.
The cross-sectional dimensions of roads connecting to the park must reflect actual demand and the locality’s long-term development orientation.

Regarding the park’s design, the Standing Vice Chairman called for a review and selection of appropriate water-feature solutions to ensure efficient land use and avoid costly, technically complex requirements for operation, maintenance and treatment.
Service facilities and architectural landmarks, particularly the proposed light tower, require careful study to ensure they harmonize with the overall landscape while giving the park a distinctive identity.
The planning proposal must also clearly define each functional zone and specify the areas allocated to greenery, water features and landscaped spaces, as well as the locations of individual structures. Planning and architectural indicators, building heights and construction density must be carefully reviewed to ensure compliance with current regulations.
Nguyen Hong Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee

Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai also called for integrated connections between Valley of Light and nearby structures and infrastructure. He suggested considering dedicated pedestrian routes to improve accessibility and make more effective use of the public space.
The planning study for Valley of Light aims to create a modern urban landscape, introduce a new architectural landmark, improve the appearance of the central area and expand public spaces for residents and visitors. The project’s scale, investment approach and implementation schedule will continue to be studied and clarified as the planning dossier is finalized.
