From Highlands to Coast, Lam Dong Goes Green for Flower Festival
For the 2026 Da Lat Flower Festival, floral displays and green spaces are extending beyond central Da Lat to roads, residential areas, schools and public offices across Lam Dong, from the highlands to the coast. The initiative aims to broaden the festival’s reach and bring its spirit closer to visitors and local communities.

Localities Step Up Urban Improvements
As a renowned flower-growing region and a UNESCO Creative City of Music, Da Lat has strong potential to host a Flower Festival that reflects its distinctive identity, combining natural beauty with cultural values.

In line with this approach, the “Everyone Plants Flowers, Every Home Plants Flowers and Trees” campaign is underway, with more than 70 communes and wards developing implementation plans featuring flower-lined roads, small parks and landscape projects.
Beyond decorating public spaces for the festival, the campaign aims to improve the living environment, foster a stronger sense of responsibility for public landscapes and encourage more civilized community living.
It also brings the spirit of the Da Lat Flower Festival into everyday life. Each improved street, newly planted row of trees and additional green space contributes to a refreshed local landscape while spreading the message of a greener, more welcoming and vibrant Lam Dong.

At Bang Lang Hill Park–Ong Hoang Hill Slope in Phu Thuy Ward, near the gateway to Mui Ne National Tourist Area, local authorities coordinated the planting of 1,300 trees in late September. The project builds on two years of efforts to expand green cover, including more than 600 queen crape myrtle trees planted along Nguyen Thong Street and around the hillside below Po Sah Inu Tower.
In early October 2026, Tan Dinh Ward in Ho Chi Minh City also joined the effort, organizing the planting of another 30 mature queen crape myrtle trees at the site.
Nguyen Van Nghi, Chairman of the Phu Thuy Ward People's Committee, said: “This activity is part of the campaign ‘Everyone Plants Flowers, Every Home Plants Flowers and Trees’ in response to the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026. It aims to improve the landscape and encourage tree planting and environmental protection.”

Well-planned and carefully maintained green projects can improve the landscape, create a healthier environment for residents and make Phu Thuy Ward—and Mui Ne National Tourist Area more broadly—more attractive to visitors.
From Festival Celebrations to Greener Urban Areas
In Mui Ne Ward, preparations for the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival also focus on building the image of a green, clean and welcoming tourist destination, alongside planting flowers and trees.
Practical activities such as environmental clean-ups, waste collection, street improvements and the maintenance of coastal landscapes are being prioritized, with participation from residential groups, mass organizations and local residents.

The festival campaign is therefore being expressed not only through flowers, but also through a shared commitment to protecting the environment and preserving the area's distinctive landscapes.

Le Tan Phat, a resident of Residential Group 7 in Mui Ne Ward, said: “In recent times, visitors have joined local efforts to collect marine debris in various parts of Mui Ne, helping clean up the beaches. To maintain our reputation as a safe, welcoming and clean destination, and to respond to the Flower Festival, I believe everyone must work together to protect the environment, especially along the coast.”

In rural areas, including Duc Linh Commune and La Gi, Phuoc Hoi and Tra Tan wards, initiatives to create flower-lined roads are continuing. These projects do not require large-scale construction or elaborate decorations. Well-planted and regularly maintained flowers can still bring fresh color to residential areas, improve public spaces and encourage greater environmental awareness.

Duc Linh Commune has planted 200 white thingan trees, 250 yellow flame trees and 100 crape myrtle trees along roads and in public areas. The planting aims to create greener, cleaner and more attractive surroundings, improve living conditions and enhance the appearance of the rural landscape.

According to leaders of the Duc Linh Commune People's Committee, tree planting in response to the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026 is a practical way to promote tree and flower planting throughout the community. The initiative also aims to raise environmental awareness among officials and residents, improve local landscapes and support the development of a more civilized and sustainable commune.

A particularly valuable aspect of these projects is that they are created and maintained through collective efforts. When residents help plant and care for flowers and trees and keep their streets and lanes clean, they improve the landscape while strengthening their sense of responsibility for the places where they live.
This community involvement provides a foundation for sustaining improvements to streets and villages beyond the peak period of festival preparations.

Extending floral spaces from the highlands to the coast gives the initiative significance beyond a single cultural and tourism event. The active participation of localities in eastern Lam Dong is helping the festival reach a wider audience and connect more communities.

As they explore Lam Dong, visitors will have more opportunities to see how localities are changing—from coastal tourism areas to rural and mountainous communities working to create greener, cleaner and more attractive surroundings.
