The Department of Industry and Trade has proposed the formation of both a Steering Committee and a Support Team to oversee and expedite energy projects. According to Director Nguyen Ba Ut, this structure is necessary to ensure coordinated supervision, faster administrative handling and strict legal compliance.

The Steering Committee, expected to be led by a Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, will develop an action plan and regularly report on solutions to resolve procedural and planning obstacles.

The province retains significant potential for further development. However, leaders have requested a comprehensive review of projects under the National Power Development Plan VIII. Projects deemed unfeasible will be proposed for adjustment, relocation or reallocation to areas with adequate transmission capacity to ensure efficient deployment.

Top priority will be given to resolving issues related to major LNG and thermal power projects, including Son My I LNG BOT (2,250 MW), Son My II LNG BOT (2,250 MW) and Vinh Tan III BOT (1,980 MW), as well as projects pending investment approval or subject to inspection conclusions.

Regarding offshore wind development, provincial authorities will recommend that the Prime Minister assign a lead agency to define project sites in accordance with approved planning. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will be requested to coordinate with Vietnam Electricity Group on identifying 500 kV substations in the South Central region and planning transmission routes to integrate capacity from Lam Dong’s coastal zones.

By strengthening institutional coordination and reviewing planning feasibility, Lam Dong aims to unlock energy investment, support double-digit growth targets and bolster long-term national energy security.
