Quang Phu Taps Its Strengths to Develop High-Tech Agriculture

Quang Phu Commune is restructuring its agricultural sector to increase production value, promote the application of science and technology, and establish specialized farming areas. This is a key priority under the commune’s 2025–2030 Party Congress Resolution, aimed at making effective use of local potential, raising incomes and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

Leveraging Local Advantages to Improve Production Efficiency

On fertile alluvial land along the river in Dak Nang Hamlet, Le Phuoc Minh uses a plot of family land to grow short-cycle vegetables and other crops. According to Minh, the fertile soil and favorable growing conditions help crops thrive. More importantly, most of the produce has relatively stable markets after harvest, generating hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong in net income.

Beyond capitalizing on natural advantages, residents of Quang Phu are proactively modernizing their production methods and applying technology to reduce costs and improve farming efficiency. In May 2026, Nguyen Van Nhang, from Duc Xuyen Hamlet, invested in a greenhouse and a machine for sowing seeds into foam trays to produce vegetable seedlings.

With a capacity of approximately 5,000 trays per plot of land, each tray holding 84 seedlings, the model enables larger-scale and more uniform production than traditional methods. Nhang said: “I visited and learned from models in other localities across the province to find an approach suited to my needs. Since adopting the technology, I have significantly reduced the time and labor required while gaining greater control over the seedling production process.”

These examples show that Quang Phu residents are not only making use of local land resources but also actively adopting technical advances and selecting suitable crops to improve production efficiency. Such efforts are laying the groundwork for commercial agriculture and gradually increasing the value generated per unit of cultivated land.

According to the Quang Phu Commune People’s Committee, the commune’s production value at current prices was estimated at VND 965 billion in the first nine months of 2026, equivalent to 82.83% of its annual target. Crop production remained generally stable, with several crops recording positive results.

Rice had been harvested on approximately 190 of the 405 hectares planted, with an average yield of 7.2 tonnes per hectare. Seed corn was harvested across all 159.64 hectares, producing 1,197.3 tonnes. Commercial corn had been harvested on approximately 400 of the 550.36 hectares planted, with output reaching 3,120 tonnes. Vegetables, beans, cucumbers, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and chili peppers were generally on track to meet their targets.

Driving a Breakthrough Through High-Tech Agriculture

The Quang Phu Commune Party Congress Resolution for the 2025–2030 term identifies agricultural restructuring, the wider application of high technology, the development of hillside and garden-based farming, and integrated agroforestry linked to agricultural and forestry product processing as key priorities.

Under this direction, the commune aims to develop value-chain-based production, secure an additional one to two products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, establish a high-tech farming area in the northern part of the commune, and tap the potential for aquaculture in local lakes and reservoirs.

To translate these goals into action, Pham Ngoc Vu, Chairman of the Quang Phu Commune People’s Committee, said the commune had identified plans to develop approximately 350 hectares of high-tech corn production in the Duc Xuyen–Dak Nang area during the 2021–2030 period. It also plans to develop fruit-growing and coffee-growing areas suited to local conditions.

Organizing production in concentrated farming zones is another priority, as it facilitates mechanization, technical transfer, quality control and the establishment of stable market linkages.

Alongside planning cultivation zones, the commune continues to promote services that support agricultural production, including the supply of seeds, fertilizers and other inputs, as well as mechanization, transportation and technical advice.

Quang Phu also aims to develop cooperatives, cooperative groups and agricultural service teams to strengthen links between farmers, purchasing facilities and businesses that market their produce.

Notably, in the first nine months of 2026, the commune attracted one investment project and supported the development of two agricultural cooperatives. These achievements provide further opportunities to strengthen production linkages, expand collective economic organizations and mobilize resources for agricultural development.

In the longer term, Quang Phu aims to link agricultural production with processing, brand development and OCOP products. The commune also plans to help farmers access capital, transition to more suitable farming models and replicate successful practices.

“

We will continue to build on our natural advantages, with the application of science and technology and value-chain linkages as key drivers. Our goal is to develop commercial agriculture, increase incomes and lay the foundation for sustainable development.

Pham Ngoc Vu, Chairman of the Quang Phu Commune People’s Committee.
