Just over two months into tourism cooperation with Khanh Hoa and Dong Nai, Lam Dong has attracted tens of thousands of visitors through linked routes, launched new tourism products and strengthened business ties, turning regional cooperation into a new driver of tourism growth.

From agreements to the first visitors

As the tourism industry increasingly competes on visitor experiences and connectivity, developing destinations in isolation has become less effective. For Lam Dong, particularly after its development space expanded following the merger of three provinces, partnerships with major tourism hubs and key visitor markets are seen as an important way to attract more tourists, diversify products and strengthen competitiveness.

From early June to mid July 2026, Lam Dong signed a series of memoranda of understanding on tourism cooperation with businesses in Khanh Hoa, followed by a tourism development partnership with travel and tourism service providers in Dong Nai.

Following the signing ceremonies, the partnerships quickly moved from agreements to action, with businesses launching tours, developing new routes and bringing visitors to destinations across Lam Dong.

According to the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, tourism businesses served around 13,500 visitors through joint tourism programmes in just over two months after Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa signed their cooperation agreement on June 3, 2026.

WINTRAVEL organised around 25 tour groups to Lam Dong, with each group comprising between 20 and 120 visitors. Since the beginning of the year, the company has brought approximately 2,500 tourists to Da Lat and other destinations across the province.

In August, the company is scheduled to organise four more tour groups, bringing hundreds of additional visitors to Lam Dong.

The first tour groups have already demonstrated the practical impact of these partnerships through increased visitor numbers and business activity. Rather than remaining agreements on paper, tourism businesses have actively developed tours, connected accommodation and transport services, and brought visitors to Lam Dong, turning regional cooperation into tangible results.

Partnerships to expand visitor markets

While cooperation with Khanh Hoa adds a coastal dimension to Lam Dong's highland tourism offerings, Dong Nai provides access to a broader market and stronger connections with the southeastern region, a major source of domestic tourists with potential for future international arrivals.

Following the signing ceremony in Da Lat on July 15, 2026, tourism businesses quickly began operating linked routes. Dong Nai Tourism Joint Stock Company served around 600 visitors on the Dong Nai - Lam Dong route, while Golden Trip Tourism Co., Ltd. organised six groups of around 300 visitors each, or approximately 1,800 tourists, on the Dong Nai - Nha Trang - Lam Dong route.

Van Lang Tourism, Services & Events Co., Ltd. also served around 350 visitors through the regional tourism programmes.

The first tour groups have demonstrated the tangible benefits of regional tourism partnerships.

In a short period following the signing, participating businesses served around 2,910 visitors. Several new routes have also emerged, including Dong Nai - Da Lat, Dong Nai - Nha Trang - Lam Dong and Dong Nai - Ta Dung, offering three- to five-day itineraries in line with the growing trend of combining multiple destinations into a single trip.

Tourism businesses say regional cooperation helps reduce transport costs, extend visitor stays and increase tourist spending. Instead of offering single-destination tours, operators can combine highland, coastal and lake experiences in one itinerary, adding value to tourism products and appealing to a broader range of visitors.

Shortly after the memorandum was implemented, businesses began working together to develop new tours, exchange visitor markets and conduct joint promotions. This provides a foundation for building sustainable interregional tourism products in the future."

Nguyen Linh Vu, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre

According to Vu, the initial results indicate that Lam Dong's regional cooperation strategy is moving in the right direction. The province benefits from a diverse tourism ecosystem encompassing highlands, forests, lakes, high-tech agriculture and indigenous culture.

By connecting with Khanh Hoa and Dong Nai, these strengths are complemented by coastal tourism products, access to larger visitor markets and improving transport infrastructure, creating more diverse and attractive travel experiences.

The centre plans to continue working with local authorities, associations and businesses to organise famtrips, strengthen business connections, develop new tourism products and expand joint promotional activities, with the aim of delivering more tangible benefits for businesses and destinations.

Lam Dong aims to welcome more than 25 million visitors this year. Alongside improving service quality and developing new products, expanding visitor markets through regional cooperation is considered a key measure to achieve that target.

In the first seven months of 2026, Lam Dong welcomed nearly 14.2 million visitors, up more than 18.5% year on year

As linked tours become more regular, businesses continue to invest in new products and localities strengthen joint promotion, Lam Dong will be better positioned to expand its visitor markets and strengthen its role in southern Vietnam's regional tourism network.

Early results show that this approach is already proving effective. The next step is to maintain visitor flows, expand the scale of regional cooperation and improve tourism products, laying the foundation for sustainable tourism growth in Lam Dong.
