Replicating the “Happy School” Model in General Education Institutions
The education sector of Lam Dong Province is gradually expanding the “Happy School” model across general education schools, with the aim of creating safe, caring, and respectful learning environments where every student can achieve holistic development in both character and competence.

The Department of Education and Training has outlined a plan to implement and expand the pilot “National Happy School Ranking in Vietnam” model, which is intended to go beyond assessment based solely on a set of criteria. It also aims to drive meaningful changes in school governance, teaching methods, and the organization of educational activities.
This plan emphasizes improving the skills of school leaders and teachers; encouraging innovative teaching methods and formats; and enhancing the participation of parents and the community in the educational process. The rollout of the "Happy School" model is closely associated with effectively carrying out the 2018 General Education Curriculum, which helps develop students’ qualities and competencies.
The roadmap is carefully structured, progressing from a pilot phase to broader implementation. In the academic year 2025–2026, the province will choose 10 schools for the pilot, comprising 6 primary schools, 2 lower secondary schools, and 2 upper secondary schools.
Beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year, the model will be expanded, with each commune-level unit designating at least one primary school and one lower secondary school for implementation. From the academic year 2027–2028 onwards, the expansion will proceed in accordance with local circumstances.
The Department of Education and Training mandates that educational institutions enhance their training initiatives and incorporate the “Happy School” assessment criteria into their professional development sessions. Concurrently, pilot schools are expected to actively engage in offering support, advice, and sharing their experiences, thereby fostering a network that disseminates positive values throughout the entire sector.
The “Happy School” model is expected to bring positive changes to the school environment, helping students build confidence, feel respected, and develop to their full potential. It also aims to foster a team of innovative and creative educators, thereby improving the overall quality of education in the province.
