Starting with every household

In Lam Vien Ward- Da Lat, flowers are found not only in commercial gardens but also in many family homes. Nguyen Tin's family is among those that have maintained the habit of growing flowers for years. Pots of flowers and ornamental plants are carefully tended, creating a colorful green space around the house.

Tin said he sets aside time every day to care for the flowers and ornamental plants in his garden. For him, it is both a hobby and a way to make his living space greener, more beautiful, and more relaxing.

From household gardens, the flower-growing movement is gradually spreading into the wider community. A large space is not necessary; a small yard, a fence, or a few flower pots in front of a house can all add color to the neighborhood. When each household contributes, these small green spaces come together to form a more attractive residential landscape.

In Nguyen Tu Luc 2 Residential Group, this spirit is clearly reflected along Nguyen Tu Luc Street. Over a stretch of about 800 meters, pots of tree chrysanthemums and impatiens have been arranged along both sides of the road, creating a bright, green and colorful streetscape.

To keep the street clean and attractive, the residential group's Fatherland Front Working Committee and local mass organizations take part in managing the effort and encouraging residents to care for the route. Once every two weeks, on Sundays, local people gather along the street to weed, tend the flowers, and improve the landscape.

Localities in central Lam Dong are focusing on upgrading streets and public spaces and creating additional flower displays suited to the urban landscape

Pham Thi Huyen, head of Nguyen Tu Luc 2 Residential Group, said the neighborhood has 713 households with 3,381 residents. Nguyen Tu Luc Street was chosen for the flower-street model out of a desire to create a clean, litter-free road lined with well-maintained flowers and ornamental plants.

“We encourage residents to take part. Those who can contribute plant flowers and help care for them. The goal is to keep the street clean and beautiful and gradually develop more models for local people to support,” Huyen said.

Building on the Nguyen Tu Luc Street model, the residential group continues encouraging households to plant flowers in their home gardens, maintain environmental hygiene, and help care for shared public spaces. This approach is helping turn flower planting and environmental care into regular community activities.

Beautifying Lam Dong for the 2026 Flower Festival

The 11th Da Lat - Lam Dong Flower Festival in 2026 will be organized at the provincial level, with a wide range of related activities taking place throughout the year and peaking in late December. Among them, the campaign “Everyone plants flowers, every home plants flowers and greenery to welcome the 11th Da Lat - Lam Dong Flower Festival” will run from June 2026 through the end of January 2027, creating a continuous activity before, during, and after the festival.

The festival atmosphere is therefore being created not only at official event venues but also through roads, residential areas, schools, offices, businesses, and individual households. Every flower pot that is cared for and every clean, well-kept street adds another touch of beauty to the locality.

In central Lam Dong, localities are focusing on upgrading roads, public areas, and tourist sites while reviewing and creating additional flower spaces suited to the urban landscape. Residents and businesses are being encouraged to plant flowers in front of their homes, care for trees, and maintain environmental hygiene.

Localities, agencies, organizations, schools, businesses, and residential areas are rolling out models suited to actual conditions, such as “Flower Streets,” “Flower Alleys,” “Green Schools,” and “Green - Clean - Beautiful Offices, Units, and Residential Areas.” These models not only help create landscapes for the festival but also aim to preserve green spaces over the long term.

At the same time, contests such as “Beautiful Homes - Lovely Gardens for the Festival,” “Flowering Neighborhoods,” and “Community Flower Gardens - Colors of Lam Dong” are being organized to encourage residents to beautify the places where they live. Businesses, cooperatives, mass organizations, and schools are also being called on to take part by supporting seedlings and materials and organizing volunteer activities to plant trees and care for flowers.

In urban areas, residential neighborhoods, and tourist sites, landscape improvement and the addition of flowers and greenery are being combined with environmental hygiene and the promotion of civilized lifestyles. Notably, these activities are not limited to the festival's peak period but are intended to be maintained regularly, so that flowers become part of everyday life.

As the 11th Da Lat - Lam Dong Flower Festival draws closer, preparations for programs and events are being accompanied by landscape improvements and the planting and care of flowers and greenery, creating a stronger festival atmosphere within the community.

From individual households to entire neighborhoods, public participation will help bring floral beauty more fully into daily life. Clean streets, flower-filled neighborhoods, and carefully tended home gardens will together create a greener, cleaner, more beautiful, and more vibrant Lam Dong, ready to welcome visitors for the 2026 flower festival.
