Roads transforming rural communities
Investment in a road does more than improve mobility. It creates better conditions for production, trade and livelihoods to grow. In Bac Binh and Ham Thuan Bac, Lam Dong Province, new roads are taking shape through public investment and strong community support, gradually giving rural areas a new look and opening up opportunities for local development.

Opening new routes for agricultural production
For residents of Phan Hiep and Phan Hoa villages in Bac Binh Commune, the Cha Vau road has long served as a key route to local production areas. However, the road had deteriorated, with several sections becoming difficult to travel, particularly during the rainy season. This repeatedly disrupted the transport of agricultural inputs and produce.
That is why construction of the Cha Vau inter-village rural road began in late July, bringing renewed optimism to local residents.
The project covers approximately 6.1 kilometers, with a 6-meter-wide roadbed and a 3.5-meter-wide concrete surface. It has a total investment of nearly VND 20 billion from the provincial budget under the 2026-2030 medium-term public investment plan and is scheduled for implementation from 2026 to 2028.
For local residents, the Cha Vau road represents more than several kilometers of newly paved concrete. Once completed, it will make it easier to transport agricultural supplies into production areas and move farm produce to markets, while reducing travel time and costs and giving farmers greater confidence to maintain and expand production.
Nguyen Thuc Phuoc Hai, Chairman of the Bac Binh Commune People's Committee, said the road will directly serve residents' travel and production needs. The commune has instructed the contractor to strictly follow the approved design, ensure construction progress and maintain labor safety and quality.
The supervising unit will work closely with the Community Investment Supervision Board throughout construction. Villages and affected households have also been encouraged to cooperate and facilitate the project so that it can be completed and put into use as soon as possible.

Joining forces to build better roads
While public investment in Bac Binh is creating better infrastructure for agricultural production, residents of Ham Tri Village in Ham Thuan Bac Commune are contributing in another important way: voluntarily donating part of their family land to widen a road.
In Group 8, the road near Song Cai Bridge has for many years remained largely unpaved. Some sections are narrow and become muddy during the rainy season, making travel and the transportation of agricultural produce difficult.
To prepare the site for the project, the commune's Economic Division, the Ham Tri Village administration and local households agreed in late July to donate land and establish boundary markers for the road widening.
Ha Thi Minh Tri, head of Ham Tri Village, said the road is expected to be upgraded over approximately 3 kilometers, with a 5-meter-wide roadbed and a 3.5-meter-wide concrete surface.
Currently, around 40% of the route is only 2.5 meters wide. The local authorities therefore mobilized affected households to voluntarily donate land to expand the road corridor. So far, all households within the clearance area have agreed, with more than 3,000 square meters of land expected to be donated.
Nguyen Minh Han, one of the residents donating land for the road, said his family supports the policy because the route is one that local residents have been waiting for for many years.
Once widened and paved, the road will make travel and the transportation of goods much easier, particularly during the rainy season.
Similarly, Luong Tan Hoang said that each household contributing a portion of its land to the road project was necessary. Once completed, residents along the route will directly benefit from easier travel and more efficient transportation of agricultural produce.
From publicly funded road projects in Bac Binh to land voluntarily donated by residents in Ham Thuan Bac, each project follows a different approach but shares the same goal: serving the common interest.
Public investment provides the foundation for infrastructure development, while community consensus helps turn those projects into tangible improvements in people's daily lives.
Residents hope the road will soon be completed so that travel becomes easier, especially during the rainy season, while creating better conditions for transporting agricultural produce and supporting production.Ha Thi Minh Tri, Head of Ham Tri Village
