Spreading responsibility and solidarity

Following an online launch ceremony across the province, local authorities and branches of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) have rolled out the programme at the grassroots level, creating a vibrant response. Numerous agencies, organisations, businesses, officials and residents have registered to participate, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility and community solidarity.

With the message “Small actions, big impact,” the programme has quickly gained huge support. In Binh Thuan Ward, total outstanding social policy credit currently exceeds VND 101.37 billion, with 50 savings and loan groups and 2,378 borrowers. The area has a high demand for capital, as agriculture remains the dominant economic sector.

Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Binh Thuan Ward Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet said the programme has been widely promoted among union members, branches and savings groups, while encouraging families to participate. Awareness campaigns will be maintained throughout April and the rest of 2026, alongside recognition and rewards to sustain momentum.

Currently, the Women’s Union manages outstanding loans of over VND 42.1 billion for 1,036 borrowers. According to Nguyet, demand for capital remains high, while available policy credit is still limited. Mobilising additional resources through the programme is therefore highly meaningful, helping poor households and policy beneficiaries access preferential loans, expand production, improve incomes and gradually stabilise their lives.

Nguyen Thi Duoc, a resident of Quarter 4, Binh Thuan Ward, shared: “Although my savings are not large, I always prioritise depositing them at the VBSP as a practical way to contribute to supporting the poor.”

According to the VBSP Binh Thuan transaction office, since early April, social organisations in seven communes and wards have mobilised more than VND 2.3 billion.

The programme has also attracted participation from businesses. Binh Thuan Lottery Company has deposited VND 20 billion at Phu Thuy Ward. Nguyen Vu Thien Dau, Deputy Director of the company, said: “Joining the programme is not only a meaningful humanitarian activity but also a way for businesses to spread a spirit of sharing and contribute resources to social policy credit programmes, creating more opportunities for disadvantaged people to stabilise their lives.”

Mobilising Support for Disadvantaged Communities

Social policy credit continues to play a vital role in poverty reduction and social welfare in Lam Dong. Preferential loans have helped develop effective production models, create jobs and increase incomes, especially in disadvantaged areas.

Since early 2026, the provincial VBSP has proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee on implementing relevant policies, including Directive No. 39 of the Party Secretariat. In the first quarter alone, the local budget and the provincial Women’s Union transferred VND 361.8 billion in entrusted capital to the bank for lending to policy beneficiaries.

The “Saving Together for Those in Need” programme will run throughout 2026, with a peak period from April 1 to April 30. Since early April, the province has mobilised VND 186 billion through the programme.

At the provincial online launch ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep emphasised that effectively implementing social policy credit programmes remains a key long-term task, contributing significantly to sustainable poverty reduction, rural development, social security and improving people’s living standards.

In practice, the programme has not only increased financial resources but also fostered a spirit of mutual support within society. When the State, businesses and citizens join hands, small contributions are connected into a sustainable flow, providing stronger support for the poor to rise and improve their lives.

As of March 31, 2026, total capital of the provincial VBSP branch reached VND 19.268 trillion, up VND 965 billion from the beginning of the year. Entrusted local capital accounted for VND 2.585 trillion, or 13.4% of total capital. Total outstanding loans reached VND 19.2096 trillion, with 286,687 borrowers, up 5.1%.
