New Infrastructure, New Growth Opportunities

In the past, the economy of Southeast Lam Dong faced many difficulties, with household incomes largely dependent on agriculture. During periods between crop cycles, underemployed labor remained common. Many unskilled workers in communes such as Tra Tan, Hoai Duc, Dong Kho, Bac Ruong and Tanh Linh had to travel to industrial parks and clusters in major cities in southern Vietnam for work.

In recent years, however, improved transport connectivity and more systematically developed industrial parks and clusters have attracted a growing number of investors, bringing new momentum to the local economies of Southeast Lam Dong.

Once predominantly agricultural, the area saw a major shift when the first factory in Nam Ha Industrial Cluster began operations, creating jobs for thousands of workers from Tra Tan and neighboring communes.

Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Vice Chairwoman of the Tra Tan Commune People's Committee, said the locality now has three industrial clusters - Nam Ha, Nam Ha 2 and Dong Ha - with systematically developed infrastructure. Nam Ha Industrial Cluster has already reached 100 percent occupancy with all secondary investors now operating their facilities.

To support industrial development in line with local planning, the commune has established Tan Ha 3 Industrial Cluster, covering more than 13 hectares, which has already attracted an investor.

Local efforts to attract investment have opened up new employment opportunities for workers.

To date, businesses operating inside and outside the industrial clusters in Tra Tan Commune provide jobs for around 8,000 workers. Their need to maintain and expand production not only helps secure stable employment and incomes for workers but also creates momentum for local socio-economic development.

Based on the new development orientation under the adjusted Lam Dong Provincial Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, localities in Southeast Lam Dong have revised their general plans and proactively sought private investment.

Nguyen Minh Dung, Vice Chairman of the Tanh Linh Commune People's Committee, said that following the planning adjustments, the locality now has two industrial clusters. The commune has identified these areas as land reserves for developing handicrafts and small-scale industries, while preparing detailed plans to attract infrastructure investors and secondary investors.

“Following the provincial government's policy of promoting private investment, from early 2026, Tanh Linh Commune proactively connected with and invited a garment manufacturing and processing company to invest locally. The locality is currently supporting the company in completing the necessary documents and procedures to build a factory with a workforce of around 400 people. Once operational, the project will create additional jobs and incomes for local residents, contributing to socio-economic development,” Nguyen Minh Dung said.

Jobs and Livelihoods Staying Closer to Home

Recently, the growing number of large-scale production facilities invested in by businesses across localities has created more employment opportunities and stable incomes for people in their hometowns.

Le Thi Kim Trang, a resident of Dong Kho Commune, expressed her happiness about her new job: “A few years ago, I worked as a garment worker in Ho Chi Minh City. Since early 2026, I have returned home to work at the export garment factory of Viet Duc International Investment Co., Ltd. Working close to home means lower living and commuting costs, while my stable income makes life easier for my family.”

The province's labor utilization index rose 5.76 percent over the past seven months, particularly in the processing and manufacturing industries. In the first seven months of 2026, industrial-sector revenue increased 7.9 percent year on year, making a positive contribution to Lam Dong's economic growth.

Following the announcement of Lam Dong's adjusted planning and the reshaping of its new development space to capitalize on existing potential and advantages, an increasing number of businesses have expressed interest in investing in the province, particularly in southern coastal and southeastern localities.

In addition to completing industrial-cluster infrastructure, Tra Tan Commune has developed residential areas with essential amenities to meet workers' housing needs.

As of the end of July 2026, Lam Dong had attracted 52 new investment projects with total registered capital of more than VND166.5 trillion and USD2.7 million, bringing the province's total number of active investment projects to 2,957.

The results reflect efforts to implement a range of measures to improve the business and investment environment, reduce processing times for investment, construction, land and business procedures, and enhance coordination among localities, departments and agencies across Lam Dong.

Investment and expansion activities by private businesses not only contribute positively to economic growth across Lam Dong but also create jobs and stable incomes for local people, allowing more workers to build their livelihoods without leaving their hometowns.
