Gentle beauty of traditional Ao Dai

Since New Year’s Day, Duc Thanh school, a historic site where President Ho Chi Minh stayed and taught from September 1910 to February 1911, has welcomed a large number of visitors. Shady green gardens, rows of simple desks and benches, and the modest classroom rich in historic character provide an ideal backdrop for spring photo sets that feel both solemn and intimate. A variety of colors and designs of ao dai adorned with traditional lotus motifs, harmonize beautifully with the site’s venerable setting.

The ancient beauty of Thanh Minh temple has become a favored destination for many young people capturing their Tet-themed photo sessions. Ms. Van shared: “Tet Ao Dai photos taken at historical sites not only preserve meaningful moments with friends and family, but also help each of us slow down and more deeply appreciate the enduring values that stand the test of time.”

Beyond historical sites, many familiar streets also take on a serene atmosphere in the early days of the twelfth lunar month. As Tet decorations begin to appear, residents take advantage of the moment to capture photos early and enjoy the open, unhurried surroundings. This proactive approach helps avoid crowds and creates a calm, emotionally rich space to preserve meaningful springtime memories.

Heading toward rooted values

Mr. Le Tan Thanh ( Phan Thiet Ward) said that the end of the year is the busiest season for photographers, especially on weekends, with many clients booking in advance. Photo locations range from cultural sites such as Duc Thanh school, Ong pagoda, Thanh Minh temple, and the Phan Thiet water tower to cafes. Among these, the Ao Dai is the most popular outfit for Tet photo albums.

The best time to take photos at heritage sites is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., when the weather is cooler, and the warm, golden light creates a nostalgic and peaceful atmosphere. The gentle elegance of women in ao dai adds to the visual appeal.

The growing trend of early Tet photo shoots has boosted the ao dai rental market. Shops now offer a wider variety of colors, designs, and accessories to meet demand. Popular styles focus on comfortable, flowing silhouettes made from soft silk, often paired with matching accessories.

Ms. Phuong Dan, owner of a fashion shop on Tu Van Tu Street, Ham Thang Ward, said customers include young people, families, and older adults. On busy days, the shop serves twice as many customers, showing that the Ao Dai remains a meaningful cultural choice across generations during Tet.
