Tan Hai, a coastal locality endowed with abundant natural resources, is undergoing significant transformation. Amid the country’s broader development momentum, the commune is striving to harness its inherent advantages to promote economic growth while improving the living standards of local residents.

Following the administrative merger, Tan Hai now enjoys a greater development opportunities both geographically and in terms of the marine economy. The area boasts numerous natural assets, including pristine beaches, the gentle Phan River winding through the landscape, the bustling Ba Dang estuary filled with fishing vessels, and the distinctive cultural appeal of the Dinh Thay Thim Cultural and Tourism Festival.

These elements not only define the unique identity of Tan Hai but also create opportunities for the development of the marine economy, agriculture, community-based tourism and spiritual tourism.

With its favorable location and increasingly improved transport infrastructure, Tan Hai is well placed to enhance trade links, facilitate the flow of goods, and expand production. These advantages also provide a solid foundation for attracting investment and developing economic models suited to a coastal commune.

Recognizing these opportunities, the First Congress of the Tan Hai Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term outlined clear development orientations and action programs to effectively harness local strengths. As a result, the coastal commune is gradually taking on a new appearance while moving toward sustainable development.

Three key growth drivers

Tan Hai is focusing on developing three core sectors: agriculture, tourism and services.

In agriculture, the commune has nearly 1,500 hectares of production land, including 1,140 hectares of dragon fruit, 240 hectares of rice and 93 hectares of mangoes. Local authorities are encouraging farmers to adopt high-tech farming methods, develop value chains and implement product traceability systems in line with VietGAP standards, while also promoting OCOP-certified products.

In the fisheries sector, Tan Hai currently operates 200 fishing vessels, with an average annual catch exceeding 3,500 tons. Local trade activities have also improved as markets have been upgraded, providing better conditions for residents and traders to conduct business.

Meanwhile, coastal, spiritual and eco-tourism are being developed in sustainable lines, closely linked with the cultural value of the Dinh Thay Thim historical site and the scenic landscape of Nganh Tam Tan – Doc Ong Bang. The Dinh Thay Thim Cultural and Tourism Festival has been increasingly organized in a more professional manner, attracting large numbers of visitors from across the country.

At the same time, rural transport infrastructure continues to be upgraded and expanded, facilitating travel and the transportation of goods. Schools, health stations and other public service facilities are also being built and improved, contributing to better living conditions for local residents.

A notable infrastructure project is the DT719B coastal road section from Hon Lan to Tan Hai, which is currently under construction. Once completed and put into operation, the road is expected to open up new opportunities for the commune to develop its marine-based economy and establish vibrant commercial, service and tourism areas.

With these advantages, Tan Hai aims to attract more investors and visitors in the future. The locality is also focusing on developing fisheries logistics services, eco-tourism and experiential activities in traditional coastal craft villages.

Building on its existing strengths, Tan Hai is steadily advancing on its development path, working toward a more prosperous and modern future.
