Patiently helping children overcome early barriers

H’Rim teaches a kindergarten class of 37 children, more than 90% of whom come from ethnic minority communities. Many of them are shy and have limited proficiency in Vietnamese, making it difficult for them to adapt to the classroom environment. Understanding these challenges, she takes a patient and supportive approach to helping them integrate.

A graduate of the University of Education in Hue, H’Rim has spent the past five years teaching preschool in Truong Xuan Commune. “Some children begin the school year barely able to speak Vietnamese. Through daily learning, play, and conversation, they gradually become more confident by the end of the school year,” she said.

She closely monitors each child’s progress and provides extra support for those struggling with Vietnamese or social integration. She also works closely with parents to improve their children's learning and well-being.

Her dedication and patience have earned the respect of colleagues and parents alike.

Continuously improving her teaching skills

Beyond her dedication to children, H’Rim is committed to improving her professional skills. She believes preschool teachers must constantly adapt and innovate, as every child learns differently.

Outside the classroom, she regularly studies new teaching methods, learns from colleagues, and searches for educational resources to enrich her lessons. Many of the learning materials and teaching aids used in her classroom are handmade from readily available materials. “Children learn best through visual experiences and hands-on activities, so teachers need to be creative,” she said.

H’Rim is also an active Youth Union secretary and Party member who regularly participates in cultural, artistic, and sports activities organized by the school and local community.

Tran Thi Thuy Thu, principal of Hoa Hong Kindergarten, described H’Rim as a dedicated and responsible teacher with a strong desire to improve. According to Thu, one of H’Rim’s greatest strengths is her commitment to self-learning and her passion for education. Despite her young age, she is always eager to explore new approaches, take part in professional development activities, and support her colleagues.

Although teaching conditions remain difficult in many ethnic minority areas, teachers like H’Rim continue to dedicate themselves to supporting young learners. Through simple early lessons, they help children build confidence and open the door to a brighter future.
