New Vitality from Cultural Roots

Starting from dawn, the heart of Ta Nang Commune was alive with artisans and locals coming in from surrounding villages. Adorned in vibrant traditional attire, eight artisan groups representing the villages of Doan Ket, Tou Neh, Ta Son, Cha Rang Hao, Tan Ha, Toa Cat, Ma Bo, and Cho Rung united to honor their common pride in the highlands and their cultural legacy.

The centerpiece of the opening ceremony was a gong culture Carnaval. As the gongs rang throughout the venue, various artisan groups took turns showcasing their graceful xoang dances on stage, highlighting the unique cultural traditions of their villages.

As the morning wore on, the festival grew more vibrant with an array of competitions, from adorning traditional festival areas rich in local identity to thrilling folk games such as water carrying, sack races, tug-of-war contests, and rice pounding, all eliciting enthusiastic cheers from the large audience.

With a towel in hand to wipe off the sweat from the energetic rice-pounding contest, Ya Min, a local resident, expressed her joy: “I had planned to work on the farm today, but since the commune organized such a large festival, my entire family decided to take the day off to participate. Events like this are the only times when people from the villages and the commune can come together, connect, and celebrate as one.”

Promoting the Role of Community Leaders

A significant aspect of this year's festival was a meeting to honor 14 outstanding village elders and respected individuals from ethnic minority communities.

Local Party committees and authorities offered thoughtful gifts to acknowledge their steadfast commitment and efforts in motivating residents to follow the Party’s guidelines and the State’s regulations, while collaborating to uphold security and social order within the community.

Inspired by the support from local authorities, Cil Ka Hanh, a respected figure in Ta Nang Commune, said: "This venue serves not only as a gathering place for residents to connect and showcase their cultural heritage, but also as a chance for everyone to reflect on their origins, honor the traditions handed down from their forebears, and truly value the spirit of unity within the community."

Emphasizing the need to maintain cultural heritage while enhancing national solidarity, Tran Van Thai, Vice Chairman of the Ta Nang Commune People’s Committee and Head of the festival’s organizing committee, stated: "Ta Nang is inhabited by a diverse ethnic minority population that possesses a rich and unique cultural tradition."

Upholding and fostering these values is not solely the duty of local authorities, but also of the whole community. In the upcoming period, we hope that village elders and esteemed community figures will continue to act as a vital link, motivating residents to maintain their cultural identity, engage actively, enhance their livelihoods, and contribute to the advancement of a more prosperous and civilized Ta Nang Commune.

The inaugural Ta Nang Commune Cultural and Sports Festival wrapped up with the enthusiasm of local residents. The performances, gong music, and heartfelt handshakes of unity will provide renewed energy for the Party organization, local authorities, and the people from all ethnic groups in Ta Nang to confidently progress on their development journey.
