Thuong Chanh Park spans more than 3.3 hectares at the confluence of the Ca Ty River and the sea, within a key port area linking routes to the Phu Quy Special Zone. In 2021, the then Phan Thiet City People’s Committee approved the project with funding from the local budget for the 2021–2025 period. Managed by the Phan Thiet Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project began construction in 2022 and was completed in the first quarter of 2024.

By late 2024, the park had earned praise from both residents and visitors for its clean, modern design, lush greenery, and landscaped surroundings. However, in recent months, it has shown signs of neglect due to limited maintenance and upkeep.

“I haven’t seen anyone taking care of the greenery or cleaning the park, and I’m not sure whether the project is still ongoing or has been halted,” said a resident living nearby.

In early 2025, the Doi Duong – Tien Thanh Tourism Area Management Board was temporarily assigned to oversee the park. Following inspections, the ward confirmed that the project was largely complete and asked the investor to finalize the remaining works and handover procedures so the park could be transferred to local authorities for management and public use.

Truong Anh Kiet, Head of the Doi Duong - Tien Thanh Tourism Area Management Board, said the unit has only received a temporary assignment. As a result, its role has been limited to basic management tasks such as parking control, preventing street vending, and maintaining security and order within the park. No further actions have been taken pending official handover.

The Thuong Chanh Park project consists of two main zones—Zone A and Zone B, as well as internal roads. Zone A includes facilities such as an administration building and public restrooms (approximately 666 m²), a sports area (1,711 m²), landscaped hills (1,588 m²), a camping area (2,170 m²), and decorative landscape zones (527 m²). Zone B features a parking area (981 m²), a public square (1,957 m²), pavilion areas (2,215 m²), a children’s playground (3,722 m²), and a sculpture garden (1,390 m²).

Hoang Van Dong, Deputy Director in charge of the Phan Thiet Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, said the unit is completing procedures to officially hand over the park to Phan Thiet Ward for management and operation. Before the handover, the contractor will be required to carry out maintenance, restore landscaping, and complete all remaining items to meet approved technical standards.

Once operational, Thuong Chanh Park is expected to provide both residents and visitors with an additional recreational space while enhancing the city’s urban landscape. The managing authority will need to ensure proper greenery maintenance and environmental hygiene, as well as security and traffic order for vehicles entering and exiting the park.
