The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism believes that revitalizing tourism services on Xuan Huong Lake is essential for the local tourism sector to update its offerings and draw in more visitors. However, the department also emphasized the importance of strict oversight to ensure that tourism activities do not compromise the landscape and environmental values of this nationally recognized scenic area.

At present, three tourism companies have requested permission to operate on the lake, and they propose a total of 95 swan-shaped pedal boats along with three rescue motorboats. While the average density is estimated at roughly 2.5 vessels per hectare, officials cautioned that simultaneous operations during busy periods could overwhelm the area and disrupt the lake’s historically calm atmosphere.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has suggested setting a cap on the maximum number of vessels permitted to operate simultaneously, while also mandating clear zoning agreements among operators to prevent overlap and ensure fair competition. Plans for coordination during busy times, such as holidays and Lunar New Year celebrations, are anticipated to be created to guarantee safety and maintain the natural scenery.

Environmental conservation is also a key focus. Service providers must establish waste collection and treatment strategies, along with enhancing awareness initiatives to discourage littering and avert pollution in the lake.

The resumption of water-based tourism activities on Xuan Huong Lake is expected to create a new attraction for tourism in Da Lat, while remaining fully compliant with the 2017 Tourism Law, the 2024 Cultural Heritage Law, and other relevant regulations.
