With more than 6,000 workers and professionals currently employed in the local industrial cluster, Tra Tan faces a growing demand for recreation and leisure. However, tourism infrastructure remains limited. In response, the commune is actively developing tourism to complement its two key economic pillars: industry and tourism.

Located along Provincial Road DT766, Tan Ha Lake lies at the center of the commune, about 20 kilometers south of Ong Don T-junction (Dong Nai) and eight kilometers north of Hoai Duc Commune. Built between 1977 and 1978, the Tan Ha overflow dam plays a crucial role in regulating groundwater and ensuring domestic water supply for surrounding areas. The lake covers a natural area of 240 hectares, including 180 hectares of water surface, with a storage capacity of 3.4 million cubic meters.

Currently, local cooperative groups manage freshwater aquaculture and surface fishing on the lake, producing more than 200 tons of fish annually. Although the water level drops outside the rainy season, the lake retains its clear, shimmering beauty at sunrise and sunset. To the west of the dam, a steep hillside reflects gracefully on the lake’s surface, creating a scenic landscape. At its foothills, farming households cultivate rambutan, durian, and Burmese grape orchards.

Several orchards have become popular destinations for visitors. Tran Du’s half-hectare Burmese grape garden has welcomed thousands of tourists over the past two years. Initially not intended as a tourist site, the orchard gained attention through visitors’ shared photos as its productivity and visual appeal increased. Nearby, Doan Ngoc Sang’s rambutan orchard also attracts large numbers of visitors during the harvest season.

Tra Tan is also home to a 12-kilometer stretch of the La Nga River, where households cultivate diverse fruit trees, creating favorable conditions for agri-tourism. Local residents often combine fishing, sightseeing, and informal gatherings along the riverbanks, highlighting the area’s potential for experiential tourism.

To further unlock this potential, local authorities propose improving the lakebed, reinforcing embankments, channeling water from the La Nga River to stabilize dry-season water levels, and developing activities such as boat tours and water sports.

According to Nguyen Van Tri, Secretary of the Tra Tan Commune Party Committee, the 2025–2030 term has identified three strategic economic priorities: industry, high-tech agriculture, and tourism. During this period, Tra Tan will focus on completing infrastructure for the southern industrial zone while attracting investment to expand rural and eco-tourism in the western part of the commune.
