Le Ngoc 20/05/2026 10:05

Vietnam tourism sector is seeing strong momentum in 2026 as rising international arrivals continue to support local economies, hospitality businesses, and major destinations such as Lam Dong.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed 2.03 million international visitors in April alone, bringing the total number of international arrivals in the first 4 months in 2026 to 8.8 million, up 14.6% year-on-year.

The surge in both domestic and international travel during peak holiday periods has significantly boosted tourism-related revenues. In the January - April period, revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 13.4%, while travel and tour service revenue rose 12.1%.

Tourism and travel service revenue nationwide was estimated at VND31.9 trillion in the first 4 month of 2026, reflecting the strong recovery of the Vietnam tourism industry in 2026. Several major travel destinations recorded notable growth, including Hai Phong, up 13.7%; Hanoi, up 11.5%; Da Nang, up 8.6%; and Ho Chi Minh City, up 7.7%.

Foreign visitor growth boosts local tourism economies

Industry insiders say the growth in foreign visitors is generating benefits far beyond tour operators and hotels, helping create jobs and supporting small businesses throughout the tourism supply chains.

Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina, said the growing number of international travelers has enabled tourism companies to expand markets, stabilize customer flows and invest more heavily in new products, technology and human resources.

With stronger inbound demand, travel firms are now able to develop long-term tourism products such as MICE tours, golf tourism, wellness vacations, caravan tours and market-specific themed travel packages. More importantly, Thuy noted that every international tourist contributes to a broader economic ecosystem.

A tour bringing visitors to destinations such as Da Nang and Hoi An, for example, not only benefits travel companies but also supports tour guides, drivers, restaurants, hotels, craft villages, tailors, boat operators and small household businesses.

“This is the real value of inbound tourism,” he said. “Each international visitor represents spending that flows through multiple layers of the local economy.”

According to Martin Koerner, Commercial Director of The Anam Group, foreign tourists, particularly those staying for longer periods, contribute strongly to spending on restaurants, wellness services, tours and local transport.

That spending, he explained, creates wider opportunities for local suppliers, farmers, fishermen, artisans and tourism-related small businesses in destinations such as Cam Ranh and Mui Ne.

Experts believe the next phase of Vietnam’s tourism growth should focus not only on increasing visitor numbers but also on improving spending per traveler, encouraging longer stays and building stronger return rates.

Nearly 8 Million tourists visit Lam Dong in first 4 months of 2026

Among Vietnam’s fastest-growing tourism destinations this year, Lam Dong tourism has emerged as one of the country’s strongest performers.

The Central Highlands province welcomed nearly 8 million visitors in the first four months of 2026, highlighting the strong recovery of the Vietnam tourism industry and the growing appeal of Da Lat tourism.

In April alone, Lam Dong welcomed around 2 million visitors, including an estimated 135,000 international arrivals, reflecting rising demand for Vietnam travel destinations among foreign tourists.

Visitor numbers from key international markets, including South Korea, Russia, China, Germany, the United States, and France, continued to grow steadily, further supporting the province’s tourism growth.

To maintain momentum, Lam Dong authorities are rolling out a range of tourism stimulus programs, including service discounts, inter-regional tour packages, and a series of cultural and tourism activities for the summer season. The province is also preparing for the 2026 Da Lat Flower Festival, one of the major events expected to boost Lam Dong tourism and attract more domestic and international travelers.

With strong visitor growth and expanding tourism offerings, Lam Dong is reinforcing its position as one of Vietnam’s most attractive destinations for both leisure and cultural travel.
