The slope with a stunning view

Located just a few kilometres from central Phan Thiet, this stunning slope at the foot of Co Mountain has become an ideal place for nature lovers to recharge. It is not only blessed with a breathtaking sunset view but also serves as a stopover on the journey to two famous historical sites: Po Sah Inu Towers and Ong Hoang Tower.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the scenery here is at its most romantic and poetic, especially in summer, from April to September. At twilight, Sunset Slope resembles a living painting bathed in warm golden-orange tones. As the sun slowly sinks toward the horizon, it bathes the sky and the slope in a brilliant orange glow. The soft rays of the final sunlight spread gently over the ocean, creating a vibrant scene that would leave any photographer or social media enthusiast in awe.

Co Mountain is part of the scenic complex of Ong Hoang Tower, which includes rolling hills by the sea, the Phu Hai estuary, and a picturesque coastline. From the top of the mountain, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the vast ocean, traditional fishing villages, and the layered mountain ranges to the west. At its foot lies the famous Sunset Slope, where hundreds of visitors gather to watch the sun go down, forming a charming landscape resembling a traditional watercolor painting. Co Mountain is of moderate height and covered in greenery, creating a sense of peace amid the rhythm of the seaside. The gently winding slope, set between the mountains and the sea, has become a perfect stop for those who love nature and seek a moment of quiet for the soul.

Over the past two years, Sunset Slope has drawn large crowds of young people every weekend to admire the beauty of the day’s final moments. Nguyen Anh Thu, a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “I saw reviews about this place on social media and came across this fascinating sunset spot. Walking around the area in the afternoon and enjoying the sea breeze feels wonderful. From the top of the slope, you can take in the full sunset view. It is so romantic, with the fading sunlight transforming the colours of the sky into a painting, bringing me a sense of peace and relaxation.”

An ideal place to recharge

Around the slope are many seasonal coffee stalls serving local snacks. Young visitors can find a cozy corner on the slope, sip a hot cup of coffee, chat with friends, and quietly watch time drift by, as if all weariness and worries were fading away.

Ho Thi Kim Dung, a local resident of Phan Thiet, shared: “On weekend afternoons, my family and I often come here for a stroll and to enjoy the ocean breeze. Watching the sunset from Doi Duong Beach is also lovely, but from this vantage point, with the mountain on one side and the sea on the other, we can truly feel the final rays of sunlight spreading across the entire road, creating a romantic and ethereal scene.”

Recently, local tour companies have added this alluring check-in spot to their city tour itineraries, seamlessly combining nature exploration with cultural and historical discovery. Sunset Slope lies conveniently on the route connecting the historic Po Sah Inu Towers — ancient Cham structures over 800 years old and a symbol of Cham culture — and the Ong Hoang Tower, a site associated with the celebrated poet Han Mac Tu and romantic stories. As a result, visitors can immerse themselves in a blend of Cham culture, history, and natural beauty all in one trip.

If you are planning a trip to Phan Thiet–Mui Ne, be sure to stop by Sunset Slope. Just one visit is enough to understand why so many people fall under its spell — where the sea and sky merge in the fiery red light of sunset, creating a timeless moment that lingers long after the journey ends.
