A vibrant market

As the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) market enters its peak in late January 2026, agricultural hubs in western Lam Dong have become increasingly bustling with harvesting and trading activities.

Despite adverse weather, including prolonged storms and heavy rainfall in November 2025, many agricultural products still recorded good harvests. Prices remained stable and even rose, largely due to improved quality meeting modern consumer demand. Regional fruits and vegetables, including oranges, tangerines, cantaloupes, cucumbers, tomatoes, and passion fruit, have achieved good yields and are favored for their appearance, taste, and food safety standards.

In Quang Hop Hamlet, Quang Son Commune, orange and tangerine harvesting is in full swing. With over 2,000 tangerine trees at peak ripeness, the orchard is filled with bright yellow fruit, and the family expects a yield of about 30 tons. The evenly colored, juicy mandarins are sold directly at the orchard at wholesale prices of 40,000–50,000 VND per kilogram, a notably strong price point for the season.

The family’s produce is grown adhering to clean, organic agricultural practices, has obtained the necessary certifications, and has been trusted by consumers for many consecutive years. By focusing on safe cultivation processes and avoiding the excessive use of plant protection chemicals, the mandarins consistently maintain stable quality. Beyond citrus fruits, high-tech vegetables and fruits are also generating positive economic returns. A farm owner in Dong Gia Nghia Ward said that although adverse weather increased input costs this year, product quality remains high and sales have been strong during the Western and Lunar New Year periods.

Currently, cantaloupes are sold at the farm for about 75,000 VND per kilogram, baby cucumbers at 55,000 VND per kilogram, while sweet passion fruit fetches prices of up to 120,000 VND per kilogram. These prices are similar to previous years, as the farmer has maintained price stabilization for long-term contracted partners.

Focusing on quality and food safety

Assessments from the agriculture and environment sector show that in recent years, the appraisal and periodic evaluation of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic food production and business establishments across the province, in general, and in western Lam Dong in particular, have been carried out rigorously. As a result, facilities have continuously invested in upgrading infrastructure, applied technical advances, and used agricultural inputs in accordance with regulations to meet food safety and product quality standards.

Alongside inspection and supervision, authorities have strengthened guidance and support for producers and businesses in implementing product traceability systems. As a result, most agricultural products now carry complete information, facilitating participation in the digital market and sales on e-commerce platforms. Many local products have obtained certifications such as OCOP, VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards. In addition to improving quality, producers have enhanced packaging, design, and product diversification to meet holiday and Tet demand, increasing added value and competitiveness for Lam Dong agricultural products.
