When Photography Becomes a “Tourism Ambassador”
In recent years, photography in Da Lat has gone far beyond simply preserving artistic moments. It has become a silent yet powerful “tourism ambassador,” drawing millions of visitors to the famed “land of pine forests.”

Powerful images promoting the land of pine forests
Da Lat has long been known as a land of mist, clouds, flowers and poetic landscapes. However, it is the compelling visual storytelling through photography that has elevated this highlands beyond a mere resort destination, bringing its beauty closer to domestic and international audiences.
Over the years, photography has successfully inspired curiosity and strengthened the desire to explore a place where every street corner and every blossom can become a masterpiece. Da Lat’s seasonal beauty—from misty mornings between March and May, pink cherry blossoms, purple flamboyant flowers, pure white "ban" flowers, golden wild sunflowers to dreamy pink grass fields—has all been magnificently captured through the lens.
My biggest motivation for returning to Da Lat four or five times a year is the stunning flower seasons I often see in the media and on social media. I want to experience that breathtaking scenery firsthand.

Earlier this year, social media was flooded with vibrant images of cherry blossoms blooming across Da Lat. These captivating visuals inspired countless travelers to visit Da Lat, proving that photography directly contributes to tourism growth.

The photographers behind Da Lat’s tourism appeal
Behind this remarkable influence is a dedicated community of professional photographers and passionate enthusiasts.
Among them is Pham Anh Dung, a retired tourism professional who continues using photography to promote his homeland. His works consistently serve as inspiring tourism messages.
Others such as Vu Xuan Lap, Nguyen Hieu, Sam Sam, Quy Tran and Van Phu come from different professions but share an unwavering passion for photography. Rising as early as 4 a.m., and enduring the harsh highland cold, they capture sunrise, mist and seasonal transitions across Da Lat.
Their dedication has transformed once-ordinary sites into iconic tourist attractions.
A solitary pine tree by Suoi Vang Lake became the legendary “Lonely Pine Tree.” A white ban flower tree on Ho Tung Mau Street evolved into a bustling seasonal check-in spot. Ancient cherry blossom trees near Lang Biang Mountain have become must-visit attractions for visitors nationwide.
Economic value behind beautiful images
The influence of photography extends beyond its emotional or artistic significance—it also creates substantial economic benefits for Da Lat’s tourism industry.
Through widespread visual promotion, locations such as Da Lat Post Office Tower, Suoi Vang Lake and numerous scenic streets have been redefined as tourism symbols.
Each season, as captivating images of Da Lat spread widely across the media and social media platforms, tourist arrivals rise significantly. Photography has helped strengthen Da Lat’s distinct and consistent image as the “Land of Flowers” and the “Land of Mist.”
In today’s digital media era, photography has become an indispensable component of Da Lat’s tourism economy.
From artistic expression to economic driver, every stunning image now serves not merely as a visual record, but as a "tourism ambassador"—silently yet powerfully telling Da Lat’s story to the world.
