Women in Lam Dong celebrated Ao Dai Week, spreading positive values
In celebration of the theme of International Women’s Day 2026 — “Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls” — the Lam Dong Provincial Women’s Union at all levels organized a series of vibrant and practical activities in 124 communes, wards, and special administrative zones.

Raising awareness about rights and gender equality
To mark the 116th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 – March 8, 2026) and the 1,986th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising, women’s unions across Lam Dong rolled out coordinated communication plans and organized a wide range of activities suited to local conditions.
H’Vi Eban, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and Chairwoman of the Provincial Women’s Union, emphasized:
“The activities celebrating March 8 this year were not only an opportunity to recall traditions but also a chance to raise social awareness about gender equality and the rights and responsibilities of women. We hoped that every official and member would become a core force spreading the message of action for women and girls.”
Communication activities were strengthened through local loudspeaker systems, electronic information pages, fan pages, and social media platforms, while banners and slogans were displayed at the offices of agencies and organizations.
The content focused on:
• The historical significance of International Women’s Day on March 8
• The proud traditions of Vietnamese women
• Legal regulations related to the rights of women and girls
• Prevention of violence and abuse
At the same time, the role of the Women’s Union in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its members was emphasized.
Along with that, Women’s Unions at all levels also introduced and promoted exemplary women in labor, production, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation. They also organized traditional gatherings, cultural and artistic exchanges, volleyball tournaments, and environmental cleanup campaigns.
Many gifts were presented to women in difficult circumstances and elderly people living alone, helping spread the spirit of solidarity and compassion within the community.
Notably, the commemorative activities were aligned with the province’s broader political agenda, including preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. Communication efforts were stepped up to ensure consistent messaging and diverse outreach formats suited to grassroots conditions.
Vibrant Ao Dai Week and mass folk dance performances
A highlight of the activities was Ao Dai Week, held from March 1 to March 8. In response to a campaign launched by the Vietnam Women’s Union, the Lam Dong Provincial Women’s Union called on officials, members, female civil servants, public employees and workers to wear ao dai during working days when appropriate, with a collective celebration held on March 8.
During these days, the graceful image of the Ao Dai appeared more frequently at offices, schools, agencies, and organizations, creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere while honoring the beauty of Vietnamese women in traditional national costume.
Sharing about the significance of the activity, H’Vi Eban said:
“Celebrating Ao Dai Week was more than a symbolic activity. It also reflected a strong commitment to preserving and promoting the values of Vietnam’s cultural heritage. We hoped the event would become a true celebration for women across the province, giving each woman an opportunity to confidently express herself, honor cherished traditions and continue contributing to local development.”
The Women’s Union also encouraged members to share photos on social media and the union’s fan pages to help spread the message more widely.
In particular, on the morning of March 8, mass folk dance performances were held simultaneously at many public locations associated with the cultural spaces of each locality.
These folk dance performances, set to songs praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the homeland, and the country, attracted a large number of members, women, and local residents, creating a united and vibrant atmosphere.
With careful preparation and enthusiastic participation from communes, wards, and special administrative zones, the series of activities celebrating the 116th anniversary of International Women’s Day and Ao Dai Week in Lam Dong in 2026 spread widely, helping affirm the role and position of women in the new era.
