World Tourism Day: More Experiences, Greater Convenience
World Tourism Day (September 27) falls on a weekend this year. In Lam Dong, many tourism sites, attractions and businesses are proactively offering promotions, discounts and service packages to attract visitors. Alongside these efforts to stimulate demand, technology is also being embraced at destinations, making it easier for tourists to access information throughout their journeys.
A Global Focus on Digital Tourism
September 27 marks World Tourism Day, a global occasion to highlight tourism's role in socio-economic development, cultural exchange and human connection.
In 2026, UN Tourism has chosen the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” This year’s message also highlights the need to apply technology in practical and responsible ways, ensuring that its benefits are accessible to more people.
For the tourism sector, this is not simply about adopting new technologies. It is also about using technology to make destinations more convenient, expand access to tourism products and give visitors more information before, during and after their trips.
This is also the direction that Lam Dong’s tourism sector is gradually pursuing.
As part of its activities to mark World Tourism Day, the province is promoting green, smart and sustainable tourism while strengthening communication across digital platforms. The activities are taking place from September 15 to 30 as part of a series of events leading up to the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2026.
At many destinations, digital transformation begins with relatively simple measures. A QR code placed at a tourist attraction can give visitors quick access to information instead of requiring them to search through multiple sources.
In Phu Quy Special Zone, Do Minh Chuc, Vice Chairman of the Special Zone People’s Committee, said the locality has developed a tourism QR code system and installed it at numerous locations.
The system provides six categories of information, including major tourist attractions, Phu Quy cuisine, transportation and services, accommodation bookings, culture, festivals and religious practices, as well as a map of Phu Quy.
From information about attractions, food and accommodation to transportation options, visitors can proactively access what they need during their journeys.
This is also a way of bringing destination information closer to tourists in the digital environment.
More Promotions to Attract Visitors in Lam Dong
If technology creates new ways to reach tourists, tourism stimulus programs provide additional reasons for them to set out.
According to the Tourism Management Division of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities and tourism businesses across the province are actively responding to World Tourism Day.
Many tourism sites and attractions are offering discounted admission, service promotions and leisure packages to attract visitors.
These activities are part of the province’s tourism stimulus program for 2026.
For businesses, this is not simply about offering discounts for a particular occasion. Developing service packages, adding new services and introducing promotional policies are also ways to refresh tourism products, provide visitors with more choices and enhance the appeal of destinations.
Luong Thanh Tai, a representative of Dak G'lung Ecotourism Area in Tuy Duc Commune, said the site is offering a 50 percent discount on admission during the campaign.
According to Tai, World Tourism Day is also an opportunity for people working in tourism to look back on their journey, the results they have achieved and the support of local communities in tourism development.
“We want this program to give visitors more opportunities to experience Dak G'lung’s products at an affordable cost. When more visitors come, businesses also have more opportunities to listen to them, make adjustments and improve their products,” Tai said.
World Tourism Day, therefore, is not only an occasion for the tourism sector to reflect on its development.
In Lam Dong, it is also an opportunity for destinations and businesses to continue finding new ways to bring their tourism products closer to visitors.
