Driven by her passion for agriculture, young engineer Nguyen Thi Bao Nhi from Dam Rong 1 Commune (Lam Dong) returned to her hometown to build a career in high-tech farming.

After graduating, Nguyen Thi Bao Nhi returned to her hometown in Dam Rong 1 Commune
to develop high-tech agriculture with her family.

Returning with knowledge — and a mission

Growing up in a farming family, Nhi deeply understood the hardships her parents and local farmers faced. In 2023, instead of staying in the city, she chose to come home and join her family’s agricultural cooperative to help transform local farming models using technology.

With its naturally cool climate, Dam Rong 1 is ideal for premium flower cultivation. The cooperative boldly introduced Malaysian imported chrysanthemum varieties — propagated through tissue culture — for commercial trial.

The early phase was far from easy: the plants struggled to adapt, were highly susceptible to fungal diseases, and required far higher investment than traditional flowers. But with her scientific background in plant protection, Nhi gradually overcame these challenges through precise technical adjustments and persistence.

High-tech farming — no longer a distant concept

Today, Nhi oversees the technical operations and management of 5 hectares of greenhouse-grown chrysanthemum production and over 10 hectares of tomatoes and bell peppers.

By applying modern agricultural technology, young engineer Nguyen Thi Bao Nhi has helped increase flower and vegetable yields by 30–40% compared to previous years.

Thanks to automated irrigation, fertigation and environmental control systems, farm productivity has increased by 30–40% compared to traditional methods. Each production cycle supplies 250,000–300,000 chrysanthemum stems, priced between 10,000–20,000 VND each — distributed nationwide and exported to India, South Korea, and Japan.

Her model also generates stable employment for 50 local workers, with an average income of nearly 7 million VND per month.

A new generation changing the face of rural agriculture

Beyond being a pioneering high-tech farmer, Nhi is also active in community initiatives, sharing technical expertise with local young people and participating in volunteer and social impact programs.
