Lam Dong Secure Spot in 2026 National Second Division Finals
A crucial 2-0 victory over hosts Tay Ninh at the Tay Ninh Sports Training and Competition Center on June 2 has officially secured Lam Dong a place in the finals of the 2026 Vietnam National Second Division Championship.
Crucial Away Victory Seals Qualification
Both sides entered the match on relatively even terms during the first half. Lam Dong created several attacking opportunities, while Tay Ninh maintained a disciplined defensive structure and also produced a number of dangerous counterattacks. However, neither side was able to break the deadlock before halftime.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to the visitors.
In the 67th minute, Huynh Quang Thai (No. 20) opened the scoring to give Lam Dong a 1-0 advantage. Twenty minutes later, Vu Hung Manh (No. 10) found the back of the net to seal a 2-0 victory for the visitors.
The victory earned Lam Dong three vital points during the decisive stage of the group campaign.
After 11 matches, Lam Dong have recorded six wins, four draws, and one defeat, collecting 22 points to maintain the top spot in Group B.
Earlier in the season, on April 19, Lam Dong also defeated Tay Ninh 2-1 in the first-leg encounter at their home ground in Da Lat.
Finals Berth Confirmed Before Final Group Match
Also on June 2, fellow Group B side Quang Ngai secured a 3-0 home victory, moving level on 21 points with Truong Giang Gia Dinh. However, Quang Ngai remain behind their rivals on tiebreaking criteria.
With only one round remaining in the 2026 National Second Division group stage, Lam Dong's victory over Tay Ninh and their current tally of 22 points have mathematically guaranteed qualification for the Finals, regardless of the outcome of their final group match against Mekong Can Tho on June 7.
The final qualification place from Group B will be determined in the upcoming showdown between second-placed Truong Giang Gia Dinh and third-placed Quang Ngai.
The winner of that encounter will claim the remaining Finals berth. If the match ends in a draw, qualification will be decided based on the competition's ranking criteria and tiebreak regulations.
Three Finalists Already Confirmed
In Group A, Tre Ha Noi (Hanoi Youth) and Hue have already secured their places in the Finals ahead of schedule.
As a result, three of the four finalists have now been confirmed: Tre Ha Noi, Hue, and Lam Dong.
The final ticket from Group B will be decided on June 7 when Truong Giang Gia Dinh face Quang Ngai in a decisive qualification battle.
The Finals of the 2026 Vietnam National Second Division Championship are scheduled to take place from June 13 to June 16 at Quy Nhon Stadium in Quy Nhon Ward, Gia Lai Province.
