Resolution 26 Opens New Opportunities for Lam Dong Tourism

Unlocking New Tourism Potential

At the national conference on studying, disseminating and implementing several resolutions and directives of the Politburo, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Party Central Committee Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized that amid major shifts in global tourism, rapidly changing visitor trends and preferences, and intensifying competition among destinations, Vietnam needs to respond flexibly while pursuing a comprehensive and sustainable development strategy.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, realizing the goal of double-digit economic growth requires tourism to make breakthroughs, generate spillover effects, unlock resources and help drive development across other sectors and fields. At the core of this effort are changes in thinking, approaches and methods, together with a shift in tourism’s growth model and governance from quantity to quality, thereby increasing value added to the economy.

For Lam Dong, this direction opens up opportunities based on the province’s distinctive advantages. The convergence of beaches, highlands, forests, natural landscapes, cultural heritage and agriculture provides favorable conditions for developing a diverse tourism product system, extending visitor stays, enriching experiences and increasing the value of each trip.

Resort, ecotourism, agricultural, cultural, wellness, healing, educational and experiential tourism can all be developed in greater depth, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of each area. When these advantages are connected within a single journey, Lam Dong tourism will have greater potential to attract visitors to stay longer, spend more and return.

From a business perspective, Pham Tien Dung, Director of Cao Nguyen Hoa Da Lat Ecotourism Site, said the business community hopes Resolution 26 will soon be translated soon into programs and plans with clear objectives and implementation roadmaps.

According to Dung, Lam Dong still has considerable room for tourism development, particularly in resort tourism, wellness, healing, education and experiential tourism. To turn these orientations into reality, clear targets, tasks and responsibilities are needed, together with appropriate mechanisms to enable businesses to proactively participate, invest and develop new products.

This is also what businesses expect from the implementation of Resolution 26: major policy orientations should soon be translated into concrete action programs, creating momentum for businesses to participate and contribute to the overall development of Lam Dong tourism.

Turning Tourism into a Growth Driver

According to Tuong Huu Loc, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Tourism Association, Resolution 26 is particularly significant as the province now possesses a vast and diverse tourism space, bringing together ecosystems ranging from highlands, forests, lakes and waterfalls to geoparks, indigenous culture, high-tech agriculture, resort urban areas and coastal destinations.

This provides favorable conditions for Lam Dong to develop a large-scale tourism ecosystem with diverse products and stronger competitiveness.

However, Loc said the biggest bottleneck is not a lack of tourism resources, but the failure to organize those resources into a complete system of products and value chains. Businesses therefore expect Resolution 26 to be translated into a focused action program, with the right driving projects selected and infrastructure and institutional obstacles gradually addressed.

To help realize this goal, the Lam Dong Tourism Association will continue to serve as a bridge between the authorities and businesses; participate in policy feedback; propose solutions; support product development, workforce training and market promotion.

The association also hopes to contribute ideas to the province’s action programs and tourism development projects, bringing practical business experience and the voice of the tourism sector into the policymaking process.

For these expectations to become reality, the government’s role in creating a favorable development environment is crucial. Provincial leaders have affirmed that they will continue listening to and working alongside businesses and investors, promptly addressing difficulties and obstacles while creating a favorable and transparent investment environment.

The Provincial People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead, in coordination with relevant departments, agencies and localities, in studying and advising on a plan to implement the Resolution, closely following the objectives and tasks set by the Politburo and local conditions.

Expectations from Resolution 26 therefore go beyond simply increasing visitor numbers. More importantly, they focus on improving the quality of tourism development in Lam Dong by reorganizing resources into products and products into value chains.

Once policies are translated into concrete action, close cooperation between the authorities and businesses, together with stronger business initiative, will be crucial to making tourism a genuine growth driver, creating jobs, improving people’s livelihoods and contributing increasingly to the province’s economy.
