Explore Lam Dong Through Its Distinctive Destinations
From Phan Thiet’s coastline to the western highlands and Da Lat Plateau, Lam Dong offers distinctive destinations shaped by record-setting landmarks, geological wonders, ecological value and cultural heritage.

1. Van Thuy Tu – Home to Vietnam’s Largest Whale Skeleton
Located in the heart of Phan Thiet, Van Thuy Tu is closely associated with the cultural and spiritual life of coastal residents. The site preserves more than 100 whale skeletons, including the skeleton of a gray whale measuring 22 meters long and weighing approximately 65 tons, dating back more than a century. In 2005, the Vietnam Record Book Center recognized it as the largest whale skeleton in Vietnam.

2. Ta Cu Mountain – Southeast Asia’s Longest Reclining Buddha Statue
Surrounded by the lush greenery of eastern Lam Dong, Ta Cu Mountain is home to the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda complex and a 49-meter-long statue of Shakyamuni Buddha entering Nirvana.
Situated at an elevation of more than 600 meters above sea level, the statue is recognized as the longest reclining Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. In 2013, it was also recognized by the Asia Book of Records as the longest statue of Shakyamuni Buddha entering Nirvana on a mountaintop in Asia.
This is one of the distinctive destinations in the coastal area of Tan Thanh Commune, Lam Dong Province.

3. Krong No – Southeast Asia’s Largest Volcanic Cave System
In the western highlands of Lam Dong lies the Krong No volcanic cave system, formed by lava flows from ancient volcanic activity. Surveys conducted by scientists have identified it as the largest volcanic cave system in Southeast Asia.
Within the system, Cave C7 extends for more than one kilometer and has been identified as the longest lava tube cave in Southeast Asia.

4. Ta Dung – A Sea of Green in the Highlands
Unlike the destinations known for record-setting landmarks, Ta Dung stands out for its lake landscape nestled amid forested mountains. Numerous large and small islands dot the lake, creating a distinctive panorama of the highlands.
Ta Dung Lake is located in Ta Dung Commune, Lam Dong Province, within Ta Dung National Park. It is an ideal destination for experiencing another side of Lam Dong—green, expansive and open.

5. Lang Biang – The Central Highlands’ First World Biosphere Reserve
On the Da Lat Plateau, the Lang Biang Biosphere Reserve was recognized by UNESCO in 2015. It was the first UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam’s Central Highlands and the ninth in Vietnam at the time of its recognition.
The reserve covers 275,439 hectares, with Bidoup–Nui Ba National Park forming its core zone. It is one of Lam Dong’s most significant areas in terms of biodiversity.
