Over centuries of settlement and community building, the Cham people in Lam Dong have preserved their cultural traditions, strengthened community bonds and passed their tangible and intangible heritage from one generation to the next. Po Tam Temple, a provincial cultural and historical site, stands as a testament to the enduring vitality of Cham culture in the southern Central Highlands and south-central coastal region.

A Spiritual Home for the Cham Community

After undergoing several repairs and restorations over the years, Po Tam Temple in Lam Thien Village has once again been restored and upgraded. For the local Cham community, the temple is more than a place of worship. It is a gathering place that strengthens community bonds, honors ancestors and preserves cultural values passed down through generations.

Po Tam, whose real name was Po Kathit, is recorded in historical sources as a figure who helped local people clear land, cultivate rice and develop irrigation works. His story continues to be passed down through generations of the Cham community. Some of the irrigation works associated with agricultural life continue to support production and daily life, keeping the legacy of Po Tam connected to the community today.

The management board will work with local residents to protect the relic, maintain traditional rituals and pass these cultural practices on to younger generations.
